Citric Acid
Citric acid is widely used in the feed and food industries.
It is an ingredient in mixed feeds and a preservative. It promotes phosphorus absorption and improves the function
of the pancreas. Citric acid makes animal feeds taste better, which encourages animals to eat more and gain weight effectively. Citric acid is added to feeds at a ratio of 0.2%–0.8%
by weight.
The anti-oxidative properties of the acid makes products last longer. It is also used as an acidity regulator with acidifying properties. It is an excellent preservative, fixing and stabilizing agent. The addition of citric acid preserves the natural colour
of food and underlines the natural flavour of meat and fish.
It is identified as E330 in the food industry.
An excellent remover, it is also added to cleaning agents.
